Description Hand-poured beeswax candles with crackling wooden wicks made in Queens with the mission to make a better candle: one with no dyes, toxins, carcinogens, phthalates and all the other bad things that are released from burning a generic made-from-soy or paraffin candle.
Owner's Story August of 2021 in the middle of a pandemic, with unemployment running out and an eviction right around the corner, the minds behind M Bur had to figure out what they could do to stop the bleeding. After frantically looking online they found an ad for a production assistant job in Brooklyn paying an astounding zero dollars, and decided to explore one of their loves, candles, as a way to make extra money. The next couple of months they tried and failed at different candle designs, different scents, and different waxes. After a few months, they felt like they finally created a candle that embodied their personalities of timeless, luxury, creativity, health, self care and a scent that they would want to smell all day. At this point they needed a name. They decided to use their own: ( M )elissa and ( Bur )nette.
