I have always been into art since I was a child, and although my dad told me to study art when I was applying to colleges, as a child of an immigrant family and the first college-goer, I was scared to think out of the box and thought about a "normal" career path. However, after obtaining a degree in psychology and pursuing childhood development while debating becoming a mental health counselor, I realized that I am too empathetic to be in those fields; my mental health began to suffer and I was spiraling into depression. I began to create again -something I hadn't done all throughout college because I was so narrowly focused on checking off the boxes on my degree checklist. During this time period, I began to read about other artists and creatives, learned about the world of stationery and illustration, and realized that I could make a career out of my art. I began taking continuing ed courses at SVA after work and spent countless hours in bookstores, absorbing as much information I could. With a lot of trial and error, I created my brand.
