Herbal, all-natural soaps made in Queens with Queens ingredients.
Description

Granny Moon soaps are not only made in Astoria, but I purchase, source, and grow as many ingredients as possible in the neighborhood. Shopping local isn't just about buying from a "made in Queens" vendor - I want to make sure as much money as possible goes into our small businesses and union shops, so it starts with me. I also work with local community gardens (Moore Jackson and Queens Botanical Gardens, where I also sell my soaps) for ingredients that are grown here. I also grow some of the plants myself. All colors and scents are 100% plant or earth derived. None have been manipulated in a lab.

Owner's Story
I started my business because my then 3-year old had angry red patches all over his body. Nothing the doctors recommended worked, so I finally made my own soap. He's been patch-free ever since. I then dove deep into soap making techniques and herbalism training, applying what I learned to soap formulations. I got my first wholesale account at Earth and Me in May 2022, started a partnership with Queens Botanical Gardens (they give me botanicals from the garden, and I use them to make soap) in August 2022, and moved into the second Earth and Me store earlier this month. Throughout this time, I've also been doing monthly markets on the 31st Avenue Open Street with QNS Collab, a group of Astoria creatives, and S.Mall, a market specifically for women and people of color business owners. Throughout these markets I've built a bit of a cult following, with people looking for and contacting me between markets for soap.
